Cettina Callari received an award at the Leonida International Art Prize in Lecce
Cettina Callari, a painter from Niscemi, continues to obtain international recognition. She recently exhibited one of her works at the prestigious International Contemporary Art Exhibition ‘Premio Internazionale d’Arte Leonida’ at the ‘Eugenio Maccagnani’ Gallery in Lecce. The exhibition, sponsored by the Associazione Nazionale Carabinieri ‘Tutela Patrimonio Culturale’ and organised by the Accademia Italia in Arte nel Mondo, celebrates renowned contemporary artists from Italy and abroad.
The Sicilian artist presented her work ‘Women at the Loom’, which was highly acclaimed, culminating in her being awarded the ‘Leonida Trophy’. The award ceremony took place at the ‘Giovanni Paisiello’ Theatre in Lecce, where the prize was presented by Colonel Michele Miulli, an expert and art critic, representing the National Carabinieri Association.
Colonel Miulli praised Callari’s ability to go beyond the appearance of things, emphasising how the artist interprets nature, the real and the human figure through a neo-overtism favouring humble subjects. ‘Cettina Callari manages to convey authentic emotions, creating works that speak directly to the heart of the viewer,’ said Miulli.
Cettina Callari, whose CV boasts over 200 international exhibitions, has exhibited her works in Japan, New York, Hollywood, London, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland and numerous other locations around the world. Her talent has been recognised by illustrious critics such as Philippe Daverio, Vittorio Sgarbi and Sandro Serradifalco.
A work dedicated to the Carabinieri, signed by Callari, is currently on display in a picture gallery inside a Carabinieri headquarters in Bari, which will soon be open to the public. The countless number of recognitions confirm the artistic value of Cettina Callari, one of the most representative figures on the contemporary art scene.
